What are the perspectives for schizophrenia? In the next ten years one-third of patients remain seriously ill, one third improved significantly, and another third remain damaged to varying degrees.

There have been many attempts to identify the characteristic signs that foretell the outcome of a patient. Prognostic indicators are an attempt to establish a rational answer to this question. Some of the factors for poor outcome were male sex, slow and uncertain start, low success predbolestniya period, poor social position of parents, predominantly negative symptoms of the disease. None of these factors alone is not sufficient to estimate, but if most of them there is likely to have chronic disease course.
